History the stamp represents: Carnivals have been around since the late 19th century and were inspired by the Midway Plaisance of the 1893 Columbian Exposition. They include amusement rides, games of chance and skill, mouthwatering food, bright and colorful lights, and more.
Today, traveling carnivals are not usually stand-alone attractions. Instead, they are part of larger celebrations such as state or county fairs, small-town field days, or other similar events.
